Toronto tenants associations

You have come to the right place.

If you want to assert your tenants rights in Toronto, need to know how to go about it and who to trust, this is the site. (The graphics are links)

Landlord and Tenant law has regressed in favor of landlords in recent years, largely because of the lack of effective tenants rights groups. There are questionable organizations giving people bad advice that can get them needlessly evicted. The best source of correct information is the Landlord and Tenant Board which is set up by the province to adjudicate tenant disputes. They at least tell you how the adjudicators in fact rule on cases; not the happy answer, but the true answer. If you need some good information call their Toronto tenant hotline at 416-645-8080

Here is the link to the ultimate web site for tenants in Ontario. It is maintained on a shoestring by someone who lives in rental housing on a low fixed income. He receives no funding from any government or any social agency though some have demanded he `donate' his site and work to them. Without him there is nothing at all for tenants that does not come from those who abuse tenants.
Here is the best advice for tenants who want to organize a tenant association. You do not need any one to 'organize' you. Have the self confidence to act for yourselves and work with your neighbors.
If you do not want to think and act for yourself, there are plenty of people who will take advantage of you. Do not deal with any person or organisation until you know who they are. Here is a link to web pages which try to inform you of who you might unknowingly contact who will victimize you and profit off of your problems and misery.
Here is a new site, still being filled up, for people who would like to know more about how to create their own housing. Knowledge is freedom.
